We are Victors
"Excellent trip! Staff were great people, concerned about our welfare, safety, and having a good time. Fellow riders were the best - together we accomplished our goal of crossing the USA by bicycle. We saw our perspective change about the degree of difficulty of a ride. We found we were capable of so much more. Anne H. (AAB)

From there the ride becomes one of the most scenic and diverse rides in America by Bicycle’s inventory providing daily breathtaking scenes as it meanders down the coast. In Oregon, the ride passes through many small coastal communities, including the art colony of Cannon Beach, Tillamook - the cheese capital of the world, Old Town Florence, Gold Beach, Ferndale, and Bandon. Not a day passes without sensory overload provided by Mother Nature’s handworks such as Haystack Rock, Heceta Head, Devils Punchbowl, Cape Perpetua, Arch Rock, and Natural Bridge. Ride the West to Central (Crescent City, CA to San Franciso, CA)
The second leg of the tour heads south out of Crescent City and explores areas that begin to show the variety and beauty unique to this part of the country. Day one enters the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway and the first of several giant redwood groves to include the Avenue of the Giants. These trees have withstood floods, fire, drought, and pests for thousands of years and still stand majestically, instilling awe in all who witness their existence. You will ride where once the small town of Weott was wiped out by the flood of the century that sent 115 feet of water down the Eel River in 1964. Venturing farther inland, the vistas of Sonoma Valley Wine Country present their beauty and provide gorgeous riding over vineyard-covered hills. On the final day of this leg, we head out of wine country and work our way to Sausalito, a bayside town with many waterfront cafes, a bike store(!!), and an incredible view of San Francisco, if the fog is in our favor. You will get a brief taste of the Marin Headlands as you climb up to and then cross Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco for our second and final rest day of the tour.

You will experience more variety on the last leg as it turns inland to Carmel Valley through the famous golden hills of California and some of the richest agricultural areas in America. RIDE THE EAST-NORTH
The first section of Ride the East travels 671 miles in 9 cycling days (10 total). Enjoy the hills of New England and the countryside of the northern Mid Atlantic states on the way from Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Washington, DC.
Ride the East begins in New Hampshire's seaside city of Portsmouth. Before we head south, take a few miles and pedal over the Piscataqua River to touch Maine, the northernmost state in the east. Now we get rolling. We head inland away from the ocean, cross into Massachusetts and traverse the Merrimack River Valley. Through the Seven Hills region of Worcester, we climb Dead Horse Hill and you will learn its history and "Legend.” The terrain continues to roll as we pass through rural America. We conquer another state when we cross into Connecticut, ride through the Connecticut River Valley and overnight in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The terrain will kick up longer and steeper as we cross into New York. We overnight on a plateau high above the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, the original capital city of New York in 1777. The next day we cross the Hudson and roll along in the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains. After Port Jervis, we follow the Delaware River into New Jersey. Pennsylvania welcomes us with terrific rural scenery. We ride through Amish country around Lancaster and ultimately follow the Susquehanna River into Maryland. Things get a little more upscale now as we pass many stately mansions and countryside ranches on our way to Rockville. Here we pick up the Rock Creek Trail and quietly spin our way into our Nation's Capital via the National Park System. We ride right into town and overnight in the middle of the action. Welcome to Washington, DC! Time to take a day off to explore the city.

RIDE THE EAST-CENTRAL
The second section of Ride the East travels 546 miles in 7 cycling days (8 total). Ride through lands steeped in the early history of the United States as we ride from Washington, DC to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

From Fredericksburg, we pass many Civil War Memorial sites, take some time and explore the history. As we continue south through rural Virginia, you will see cotton, peanut, and tobacco fields and many stately plantation homes. You are sure to see farmers beginning the fall harvest. As we cycle through the countryside, the terrain will flatten out completely. Well, nearly. Next, we meander across North Carolina, head east to the ocean, and land in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Here we enjoy another day off the bike. Time for a round of golf, a walk on the beach, or relax, the tour is going quickly.

RIDE THE EAST - SOUTH
The third and final section of Ride the East travels 489 miles in 6 cycling days (7 total). Cycle along the Intracoastal Waterway and through lush southern farmland on your way from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida.
For the final leg of the tour, we spend a few days cycling south across rural South Carolina, trekking inland again and around the Intracoastal Waterway over to Georgetown. Now it’s time to get off the tourist path, see real southern towns, and enjoy the accent and hospitality that has made this region famous. The cycling continues to be rural, flat and interesting. You'll see the fields change from peanuts to cotton to okra and back again. We cycle right over Lake Marion and visit with the weekend fishermen and ultimately cross into Georgia at Savannah. Here, we'll take a final day off the bike. The south welcomes us with warm hospitality and great food. We'll spin into Florida on our last day to conclude the ride in Jacksonville.
